Find Accredited Surgical Technician Schools in Michigan

Students interested in careers in surgical science should seek an accredited surgical analyst school. Graduating from an accredited school is generally a requirement for certification and often employment. The two major accrediting agencies for surgical science are the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). There are 15 CAAHEP-accredited surgical expert schools and more than 20 ABHES-accredited schools. Surgical expert programs, which include medical courses, lab classes and clinical rotations, may result in certificates, diplomas or degrees.

How to Get Certified in Michigan

Surgical experts who have successfully completed training can become certified by successfully passing a certification exam. Certification is not required by the state, but may be required for employment and may improve job opportunities. Although the eligibility requirements for certification may vary a little, the general requirements are that you must either have experience working as a surgical analyst or must have completed an accredited surgical analyst program. The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting offers the Certified Surgical Technician (CST) credential and the National Center for Competency Testing offers the expert in Surgery – Certified (TS-C) credential.
